Rooted in Kennington since 1825

History with every pour

Built beside the walls of the old Bethlem Hospital, The Tankard has stood at the heart of Kennington for nearly two centuries. Its first-floor terrace once gave Londoners a curious view over the infamous grounds, and some say a young Charlie Chaplin passed through its doors. Reopened in 2017, the pub now blends rich heritage with a warm, modern welcome – a place where every visit feels like coming home.

Visiting UK and found this fabulous restaurant pub. Food was hot and tasty ordering the chicken and leek pie with flaky pastry and loads of white meat, chicken wings meaty and tasty and of course good cod fish and homemade fresh cut chips. Beers of all sorts all yummy too. Great bunch of guys running this place a must stop if your staying in the area.
